Imam Sherif Shehata has served as the religious leader of the Islamic Center of Fredericksburg and Stafford VA for the past 20 years. He has a background in law and religion, with a degree in French, English, and sharia law from Ain Shams University in Cairo, and studied religion at Al Azhar.

In addition to leading the Muslim community of Stafford, Imam Sherif works closely with the Stafford County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office as a chaplain, helping residents of Stafford who have experienced emergencies or loss. He also acts as an advisor to the Board of Supervisors through the Stafford Diversity Advisory Coalition and the Board of Education through the Faith Leaders Advisory Committee.
